With all the commotion that has occurred in my life recently, I have not had the chance to blog as frequently as I would like. However, those issues are set aside and I am back on the blogging beat; sadly, some new negative headlines have chosen to rear their ugly heads.

This first bit here, as chronicled by Gamepolitics, talks about how the Connecticut Attorney General labels the ESRB as being “under the influence” when it comes to alcohol use in games. The game in question is ‘Beer Pong’ from JV Games. The full report is here; to me, it just comes across as another politician who thinks that he has ‘moral authority’ to say what types of games can and can’t be released. Even though he mentions in his letter that ‘parents deserve to know all of the facts, I personally doubt that he will be forthright in saying what the game contains.

Thankfully, the ESRB responded to his criticisms quickly, even cleverly pointing out that his actions have inadvertently drawn more attention to the game than was intended. While I found this mention humorous, it has worked in other instances; look at all the Grand Theft Auto Games.

Speaking of humor, I find it humorous that an individual who signs a provision against video games turns out to be an active player himself. However, that modus operandi proves the case with the Minnesota governor, who is actually a pretty active gamer. To me, that is a huge case of the pot calling the kettle black. The report is here.

To end on another humorous note, here is a parody video based on a comment made by a Fox News correspondent about Obama’s “terrorist fist jab” that he frequently shares with his wife, Michelle.
