Looking at gaming’s future and present
Gaming has progressed by leaps and bounds since its early days; players have progressed from saving princesses in castles to renacting historical wars and saving the world from vicious demons.
With such rapid progress as this, it is difficult to predict the next directions that gaming will take, Hal Halpin, president of the ECA, has attempted to do just that here. It is an interesting piece and his opinions are very well thought out.
Also, considering all the negative news that I report on politicians affecting video games, I thought that it would be fitting to include a positive piece on what they can do to make gamers interested in their cause. The piece is here, and though it is meant as humor, there is actually some truth to it.
Google apparently wants its own piece of the video game pie, as they have created a Second Life-style experience, as reported here by Kotaku. Personally, I am not sold on the experience; I am having enough trouble living my first life.
